We are no longer... And Scott Makes 3...

There is an old saying I found that says,

Tall Oaks from Little Acorns Grow...

For a long time I tried to think of a clever blog name about raising boys and decided that those words described best about how we felt, that we want Scott and Levi to grow up tall and mighty from the little acorns that we created.

Now that Levi is here, please start to follow us at:

He's here!

Levi Ryan Dunn arrived in a picture perfect c/s this morning at 7:42 am. He weighs 8 lb's 2 oz, 20 inches long and is the spitting image of his brother. Sorry we don't have pictures ready.. we have had a big day with lots of visitors, kisses, and snuggles with Levi. We will post pictures soon.

Two interesting things did happen in regards to his delivery... 1, I had noticed that he had moved, I wasn't sure exactly what position he had planted himself, but I figured was still in a breech position... as it turns out, he turned himself sometime in the last two weeks.. I'm not even sure how he had room, but he came out head first!
2, once we arrived to be check in, they hooked me up to two monitors, well, after about a half hour on the machines, the nurse came back and asked me if I could feel my contractions... I was shocked.. turns out, I was actually in labor. My contractions were so minor and unproductive that I could not even feel them, but they were coming 6 minutes apart. One way or another Levi was determined to make his big debut!

Daddy and I are very tired and going to settle in for the night with Levi. We hope to be released on Sunday, which is good because I don't think I can go another night without seeing Scott, I've never been away from him for this long. We decided not to have him come to the hospital. He is too energetic to be cooped up in a hospital room and would not understand why I can not hold him. He will meet his new "partner in crime" on Sunday!

in the home stretch...

Wow.. just one more week and we are going to be a family of 4!!!! We are all very excited. I really held off on my nesting instincts until after Christmas 1, because I was still very busy with pictures and 2, I knew that if I did it too early, I would go stir crazy waiting for next week to come. Slowly I have been getting Scott old baby stuff out of storage and make sure it is cleaned and ready to bring home Levi. My friend Anne came over one day to help me wash all the newborn clothes and sterilize all the bottles. I've also been on crazy mission to stock our deep freeze full of easy meals and lots of pre-made casseroles so I still feel like we are eating meals after all the grandmas are gone and it's just me and the boys at home. I'm very happy that Ryan is taking 2 weeks off this time. When Scott was born Ryan had just started his new job 1 month prior and all he was allowed to take was 5 days of leave. It didn't help that we had to spend 3 of those days in the hospital, so he only got 2 days at home before he had to go back. I really want him here to make sure Scott knows how much we love him while we have to spend so much time on Levi. It helps that right now Scott is on a very big "daddy kick", so I can concentrate on nursing Levi.

Although we have tried to talk to Scott about Levi's arrival, I'm pretty convinced that he doesn't get it yet. If we tell him to "kiss the baby" He will kiss my belly, but I'm not even sure he is separating baby and belly in his mind. I have spend more time with my friend Kris, who has the twins, and try to hold a baby in-front of Scott lots, but he has their big sister gracie to play with. As I have been getting things ready, Scott has taken interest in them as you can see from the pictures. I remind him everyday that they are going to be for the baby and he has repeated that back to me a few times. I also borrowed Gracie's toy pack-n-play and car seat so Scott can mimic us when we start to use these items for Levi. We have them out now and I have tried to play putting his elmo's in them, but I think they will sink in more when Levi is here.

Here is Scott checking out all his old toys:

So.. only a week left and I can tell you I will miss "feeling" Levi. Scott was a kicker.. but Levi is a wiggle worm. Ryan is weirded-out by it but I love it... it's a sense of relief when I know he is active. I can tell the moments are getting limited as he is running out of room. I really have felt great this whole pregnancy, thank goodness I never had to go onto any bedrest.

For those of you who have not heard.. Levi is ALSO breech. This is why we had the c/s with Scott. I mentioned it to the dr that I thought it was weird for me to have two breech babies when the chances of having a breech baby in the first place is something like 1 in 10. He said some women just have "one of those uterus's" that don't give the baby enough room... I thought it was funny. Anyway, so now I have ANOTHER baby boy, hanging out in my rib cage... taking up my lung space and kicking my bladder...

I'm just now in the last week starting to get uncomfortable sleeping. and I definitely will not miss my dr visits... I always take Scott and he is such a great trooper, but it's annoying waiting. We wait for our name to be called.. and then we wait again (usually 30 min) for the dr to finally come in.. and then it's a 5 min appointment of checking the heartbeat, measuring me, and asking me "any questions"?? I have one more appointment to endure.

I have, however, been asking a question to all the dr's in the practice for the past 2 months (over and over again)... "How big do you think this baby will be when I deliver???" You see, Scott was 8lb, 15oz... and historically, second babies are bigger than the first... and boys especially are bigger... so going into this, I'm expecting a good 9 pounder... well, turns out, all three 3 dr's have the same opinion, we will around 8lbs... give or take. At today's appointment, she estimated that he would be about 7lb, 12oz next week... another of the dr's said between 7 1/2 to 8 1/4... and another dr said we would be pushing it to get to 8... so there you have it... I blame the coffee... With Scott I weaned myself from coffee very early and never had another drop until I was practically done nursing at 6 months. This time I knew there was no way I could get through the pregnancy without it... between pictures and keeping up with Scott, so I allow myself 1 cup everyday because I also know I"m getting caffeine from chocolates etc.

Can't wait to meet him!!! I'm so excited and just want to hold him.

So, in the next week, I have some final nesting I want to do, Ryan has a 3 day weekend (yippie) and we have a Date night planned. Scott and I have 3 play-dates trying to get in lots of friend time while we can. I also have 1 giant grocery trip planned so I know we have lots of fresh fruits, milk and easy foods to grab in the days coming up.

baby chaos

Thanks to facebook, we have been able to reconnect with so many friends that we have lost contact with over the years. Right before School started, we reconnected with Amy and her son Adam, well, we decided to plan another playdate over the Christmas break and added in Katie and her girls, Lanie, Lilly, & Wynnie. So... get this... We had 5 sorority sisters... 8 kids (including TWO sets of twins!) and 3 more babies in bellies!!!! Besides myself, my BFF Anne is having a baby on my birthday (or at least a close to it as she can handle....) and Amy announced to us that Adam will soon be a big brother! This is just crazy... if I'm counting right, sounds like I have about 7 friends having babies in the months of May, June & July!

These aren't the greatest pictures, but we had so much fun catching up! We hope to do it again if we can get everyone's Spring Break's to line up.

Christmas 09

Christmas totally few by.... I never actually put up a tree this year or did much decorating, mostly because I didn't want to be bothered taking it down 9 months pregnant.. plus, we did not spend Christmas eve at home, we were at Grandma & Grandpa Dunn's this year. What is funny is every time Scott visited another house with a tree, he never seemed phased that they would have a tree in their house.. I thought for sure he would be confused or at least want to be checking it out.

We really did have to watch the weather to make our trip, but we did fine. We arrived Christmas Eve to eat dinner and open presents with the whole family and ate a big breakfast Christmas morning where Scott got a couple more presents. This year was a year of Wheels for Scott. Our friends got him a Big Wheels (although he can't quite reach the pedals yet, it has lots of buttons and makes lots of noise). Aunt Heather and family got him a Radio Flyer that he scoots with his feet. He can work it, but again, is more interested in ringing the bell. And Mommy and Daddy got him a battery powered 4-wheeler. It's very simple for his age and only had one button..go... no reverse, so as we are learning to steer around the living room, we do have to help him often when he gets stuck in a corner, but he loves all of them. The other big hit present came from Mommy and Daddy, a kitchen! We found a great black friday deal on a small kitchen (that wasn't too girly). The only downfall was that because it was soooo cheap, Ryan and I had to put every tiny piece together.. it took both of us over an hour to assemble, but it's worth it. We gave it to him a little early and he plays with it everyday, he loves putting the foods and other toys in the microwave and oven. We have also noticed that he spends more time in our pantry now and steals small cans like tuna and we find them in his kitchen... so cute! He also got some toy food for his kitchen, an Elmo DVD and an elmo "cell phone".

I haven't had a chance to take his annual Christmas picture with all his gifts yet because he does not have his gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Litton yet. He won't get those until they come up for Baby Brother's arrival in a couple weeks. Until then, here are the pictures so far. We also took some video of the times we gave him the presents from us, so I'll post those soon.
